Brasserie de La Presse

Brasserie de La Presse is one of those busy, elegant and modern restaurants in Brussels with business oriented clientele and a menu with plenty to choose from. My husband used to work at Rue Royale so we would often go La Presse together to grab some lunch, since it was one of the best options around.

They always have the daily menu with some options that run out quickly on their busy lunch time, or you can pick something from their fixed menu that ranges from apéro starters to pasta , meat, fish, desserts and some good salads; go for the Nicoise Salad with Seared Tuna – it had always been a winner, but I’d say skip the risottos.

This restaurant has also many options when it comes to drinking, and they offer reasonable prices for a good bottle (we’re big wine drinkers) but I am here to talk about the one thing we would always eat and that has never failed: The Burger “Presse”.

For those who don’t know, I am a Burger lover. I love Burgers from fast food to gourmet ones and always keep a list of my favourite burger places. And in Belgium it couldn’t be different. So on the quest for good burgers La Presse’s one seems ticks all the boxes and I’ll tell you why.

They keep it simple: cheeseburger with quality cheese, fresh salad, tasty meat usually done well (or medium rare if asked) and a good bun. A soft, fresh and old school sesame seeds sprinkled bun. As a side, some well executed and usually screaming hot fries and voilá. That’s all you need; tasty and enjoyable. And ah, I was forgetting to mention that it comes with a salad on the side; fresh but dispensable.

So If you’re looking for a decent, satisfying burger, in a nice ambiance, consistent quality and sometimes a bit “busy” service, give Brasserie de La Presse a shot. Their prices are indeed higher than average (18€ for the burger) but I think at least, they serve food with matching quality, something that many places fail to achieve.
